Chang started his career teaching in cram schools after his graduation.

The 34-year-old, who has completed his masters in mathematics having more than 15 years of teaching experience, previously opened his own cram school, and started teaching online when the pandemic struck.

And as the pandemic hit every offline establishment, Chang’s school was no exception. 

That’s when he decided to create a brand of his own and reduce reliability on employers and unpredictable business models.

He started his brand , “Chang Hsu Math Teacher,” with a focus on calculus courses and brainstormed about marketing strategies with his team.

However, the educational market in Taiwan and overseas was already saturated with numerous other prospects, thus Chang came up with a novel idea of doing “special things at special places” to grab the attention of students and decided to take his work on the Canadian owned Adult site.

He started posting content on YouTube, Twitch, and Pornhub, but it took time for students to get used to watching calculus on Pornhub.

His brand grew and views started pouring in.

Many also started paying fees to download his paid content on his site.

The ‘do special things in special places’ success strategy-

Chang makes an estimated 7.5 million Taiwanese dollars or more than $250,000 from his videos on the adult platform

This figure also includes revenue from other sites such as YouTube and Twitch. Moreover students who like his free lessons ended up enrolling in his paid classes.

Chang admits that his marketing strategy has truly realized his business objective.

According to Focus Taiwan, Chang’s page “Play Hard, Study Hard!” has garnered more than 6,900 subscribers

He has uploaded over 271 videos that  have racked up more than 1,883,947 total views.

Chang’s profile ranks at an impressive 685 th position on the site without having posted a single contentious graphic.

His videos, which last around 40 minutes, bring an average of 20,000 viewers per clip.
